The GMS School Website is a sharing place for class activites.
Over the year, with the growing confidence of the teachers and the children, our school website has become a valuable place for every class to share what's been happening at school. Many of the children have become experts at finding their way around the site. They all love sharing their work and looking at what other classes are up to. The pages with feedback added to them have been frequently visited and the children have enjoyed the positive comments that have been made.
Most of us feel that the time involved in learning how to build and maintain our class web pages has been worthwhile as the GMS website is becoming a valuable communication tool.
Below are some links to classes, feel free to have a look at what they have been doing.

Children Paint, Artrage, Photography, and Movies
With the new set of netbooks purchased earlier in the year there has been an increase in the use of images included in classroom activities.
These range from simple paint drawing in the junior school to artrage painting in the middle school through to lots of photography and movies in the seniors.
We have all been busy clicking, painting and shooting some very creative images.
Here are some samples so far.
Learning to use Powerpoint.
In the senior syndicate the children are beginning to discovery new ways of using powerpoint to present a variety of information. Some classroom began the year by producing shows to share their researched and written information with others. After they got started the children found new ways to link files together, pose questions, and provide answers, share stories through our web site, and then add sound, music, movies, and multiple images into their powerpoints. Now, the 4th term, their is a growing number of children that are keen to come to school and share new ideas, skills, and computer tricks that they have discovered at home.
Some of the middle classes have been working on their computer skills to create a lovely 'Yucky Body Book'. This activity was an important part of the Human Body topic that was being focused on in the middle syndicate. A large amount of teaching, sharing, creating, editing and publishing took place during the production of this class book. Careful planning of computer time and was needed. The new Interactive Whiteboards made the teaching of specific programme skills much quicker and more focused.
Over the the year our Junior Syndicate have been busy improving their computer skills. They have been focusing on some basic skill development with their very enthusiastic little people. Room 8 and 9 have integrated ICT into their language programme and have used Powerpoint to reinforce some important skills.
12 August 2010 - Update
Over the last 2 terms, with the aquisition of our second set of COWS and the installation of our first 4 Interactive Whiteboards, we have seen a huge shift in the attitude towards ICT within the school. We have also recently implemented a whole school ICT timetable and undertaken regular needs based inschool PD sessions. Consequently there has been a massive increase in the use of ICT by the staff and children. One of our major achievements has been in the setting up of our school website where many examples of student work are currently being shared. Greenmeadows School Website
Useful sites
Some of the websites we have discovered so far that have proved useful are: www.echalk.co.uk a website full of really useful interactive teacher tools and lessons.
www.kidshealth - a website all about the human body http://www.gamequarium.com/index.htm interactive teaching tools and games website.
During this year we have had six new Activeboards installed (four at the end of Term 2, two more recently). Most of the teachers in the classrooms where the boards were installed had no experience of ever using an Interactive Whiteboard before. It was a steep learning curve. Teachers have been supported in their learning of how to incorporate the interactive technology by two training sessions provided by Promethian (one basic skills, the other advanced), by the Promethian Planet and Promethian Learning websites and by sharing 'new discoveries' and supporting each other. All of the teachers involved, and the children in their classes, have quickly grown very attached to their boards. Teachers have been willing to share their boards and swap classrooms occasionally with those that don't have them, so that more children around the school are being exposed to Interactive Teaching. The boards have been used for interactive learning activities/ lessons; independent activities for the children; viewing websites (eg current events on 'stuff', using Google Earth to locate places around the world, using digistore on the NZMaths website, brainstorms using Wordle etc., etc.); and using the whiteboad as a writing surface to record lessons as they evolve (brainstorms, thinking maps etc.) to name but a few.
The boards have transformed our teaching and the children love them.
